Where's the bone go, Mommy?

The past week has been all about bones. One of their favorite songs is "Dem Bones". We have a cartoon where a bunch of skeletons dance to the song and talk about each bone. This week we went to the KidiMu (Kids Museum of Bainbridge Island). One of the highlights was the skeleton puzzle.

Evan has been studying his left arm a lot lately, so I've been taking that as a signal to start talking to him more about his arm. Yesterday at lunch he was playing with the point at the wrist, which is actually the ulna protruding into the skin. I told him that he has only one bone in his arm and that the other one is missing (I've told him this in passing, but never a one on one serious discussion.) He looked right at me and said, "Where's the bone go, Mommy?" I told him it was missing. He said, "What happened?" I explained that it never grew while he was in my belly, but it's OK because he's fine without it. He can do anything. He thought about that, then he went back to eating.

I'm sure we will talk about it a lot in the coming months. He loves skeletons and studies every little detail of, well, just about everything. He's so darn smart.
