I've Been Lazy

Well, it's been over a week since I've posted anything. I don't know if it's laziness or not, I just haven't been in the mood. Haven't heard from John in over 3 weeks, but I am hoping that I will any day now. They have to come up for supplies at some point! John has been missing so much. Every day the kids do something new. Amelia randomly says words never to be repeated again- she said "Hi, Evan" and "Mewee" this week (Mewee when I called her Meli in a sing-songy voice). She says puppy and woof-woof all the time. She is obsessed with puppies. Evan for some reason loves the word "circle". No other words, just "circle". Amelia is once again climbing the fence and Evan throws small, hard objects 6 or 7 feet. I'm sure there is more. I write John every night and re-cap the day for him. He is able to get emails much more frequently than to send them out.
We have been keeping busy by exploring the area. Took some good pictures of the mountains today. Enjoy the latest pics!

New Videos

Amelia is a singer now. She learned how watching "Classical Baby", in which a cow sings opera. Now she's singing and dancing. Grandma Kim bought her a xylophone and both Amelia and Evan love it. Got the table just so they could use it to play their instruments, but it is mostly used as a flotation device. Thinking about getting that DJ scratch table...

Get out of my way- Seriously!

In keeping with the theme of "Why does this always happen to me?", I thought I would talk about people and how they are always in my way while I'm pushing a ginormous double stroller around. Now, you would think that I would be in their way. Nope. Apparently, my double stroller became magnetized, possibly when going through airport security. As I push the stroller, idiots are sucked in front of me. I know this probably happens to you, too, so let's get it out there-

Why don't you get out of my way!! Here are some recent examples:
  • The Slow Walkers: People like to get in front of me and walk really slow. Slower than me- PUSHING A DOUBLE STROLLER!! How is this possible? I was at the Navy hospital the other day and two women were walking side by side and wouldn't let me get around them. They were... so...slow.... No, there was nothing wrong with them. And because I wasn't in a hurry, I just walked behind them, all the way down the mile long hall. Do you not hear a stroller and two kids right behind your behinds? In a perfect world, I would be allowed to ram their buttocks with the stroller. (Sigh.)

  • Shopping Cart Pushers: People, my shopping cart is a double stroller, not a huge plastic and metal cart. If you just have to get to the apples before me, please, there is a baby on the front of my cart. I cannot believe that people would risk hitting my son to get to a frickin' apple before me!

  • The 6 Year Old Cart Pusher: If it was Friday afternoon and the grocery store packed, why was a lady letting her 6 year old push the cart! I know he's excited about it, but seriously? He was running into things, not steering straight. Of course I couldn't get around him and I was annoyed. So there, don't let your kids steer the dang cart if I'm around.

  • The Diagonal Walker: If I'm pushing the stroller straight and people are coming toward me on the left, also walking straight, why would they all of a sudden start walking on a diagonal until they are in my way? This happens every day. I wish I were exaggerating. Is it because they all have one short leg? Does the mall have a slanted floor? That always slants toward me? Sometimes they act like they didn't see me and the giant stroller (???) and sometimes they force me to stop or swerve.

  • The Matrix Training Program: Am I possibly in the Matrix training program? Why am I the one weaving in and out of people when I'm in a crowded place? I have started just pushing into people, or rather threatening to push into people, but still, no one wants to move for me, I have to move for them. Does this mean I am failing the Matrix program? I'm no Neo, that's for sure.

  • Nordstrom Snobs: This did not happen once, but TWICE! See, how I open a door and get the stroller in involves two hands and a foot/leg. I get the front part of the stroller through, then I take my leg and push the door the rest of the way open as I continue to push the stroller. Would you believe that I have been made to keep the door open for Nordstrom customers WITH MY LEG?! They don't help me, I help them! The second lady even said, "Thanks." How nice!

Happy Momma's Day

My mom left yesterday and now all hell is breaking loose. Just kidding, we are some how doing OK, but they have already been challenging this Mother's Day. I skipped the Mother's Day brunch that the ladies of the USS Pennsylvania are throwing because it would be more stress than fun. Taking them out to eat is the biggest challenge of all. So I decided that I was going to force them to make me some drawings.

Two 16 month olds, 6 crayons, 2 markers, what could go wrong? Well, when I was helping Evan, Amelia stuck the two washable marks up her nose, then into her mouth and sucked the ink off of the marker tips. Then when I was washing her off, Evan bit the tip off of a crayon and started screaming because it tasted so bad. So then I had to dig the wax flakes off of his tongue and teeth. But, hey, I got some cards from them, right?
Then I stopped that and Amelia crawled inside the Little People garage. What is next??

A Day at the Zoo

Amelia and Evan took Grandma to the Point Defiance Zoo yesterday. We tried out the new jogging stroller, but the way the seats lay back doesn't work for seeing sights. Not to mention it is so wide we couldn't fit through some of the doors! The kids also took Grandma and me on the carousel. What fun. I can't wait for John to come so we can go again. BTW, 1 week with him gone down!

Look, There Goes Daddy (Bye, Bye)

USS Pennsylvania (flanked by barges) with John aboard

Today we said bye, bye to Daddy. He is our hero beneath the sea. We are not going to be sad, though our mom has been told that we might get a little emotional after awhile. When we do, Mommy is going to tell us stories about what Daddy is doing on the boat, like looking out at the stars through the periscope and eating mojo potatoes made with a mojo potato maker machine. Mommy is jealous of that. Instead of being sad, we are going to remember what a wonderful time we had before he left. It was warm out and the clouds parted for him to get some sun rays. He's going to be pretty white when he gets back. When he left the sun went away. Here are some pictures of us with Daddy so we can remember him in the sunshine. We are so happy when we are with you and we miss you so much already. Love you forever!
