I am getting ready to baby-proof our current house and noticed that corner protectors are pretty high on the baby proofing list. I got to thinking. I know a lot of people with scars on their chin and head. But, if I remember correctly, they all got these scars by falling on the edge of something, such as a coffee table, fireplace, or underground pool. No corner casualties. When I was walking through the summer isle at Walmart, however, I saw the perfect answer to my edge worries. Pool noodles! Thanks to an exacto knife and 7 different colors of fluorescent noodles, my living room baby proofing is now complete.
First twins, then another, and now I'm homeschooling. Perhaps I am crazy, but I love it all.

All About Amelia
Or Houdini, as I like to call her. I feel bad that so many posts are dedicated to Evan's health, so I thought this post could be all about her.
I always refer to her as my "crazy baby". She used to be crazy because she was very loud and colicky the first couple of months. But now that she is a little older (and on sensitive formula), she is crazy because she is constantly on the move. And she is always smiling and laughing. Her nickname is Houdini because she tries to get out of any apparatus we put her in. She also can never be in a normal position. She likes to be bent sideways in the swing or doing a backbend when you hold her. She is definitely my daughter and will most likely be a gymnast. She knows how to jump like on a trampoline (on my stomach- unfortunately). There are only two reasons she is cranky: 1) hunger 2) she wants to be standing upright. My arms are tired!
Her latest thing is being on her stomach. She will not stay on her back no matter how hard we try. Playtime with Evan is an event because she just wants to steamroll right over him. (He thinks that is the greatest thing, of course.) She has to sleep on her stomach, too, which freaks me out a little, but I'm sure she is fine. She can scoot and gets upset that she can't figure out how to crawl. It will be exciting to see such a tiny thing crawl, just like her cousin Genevieve.
Everyday she looks more and more like John, but is keeping the blue eyes and still has red in her hair in the sunlight. So darn cute, my Meli.
Here she is scootin'.
Escape from the Bumbo chair. My sister said that babies are not supposed to get out of these. She's only 4.5 months!

Sideways swinger. She needs constant supervision!

Here is another video of her in the jumparoo. She is even more active than a couple of weeks ago.
This is a short video of her rolling over.

Yay, Evan!
I have been on a toy buying frenzy to make sure Evan has the right toys to do a little occupational therapy at home. Why are all of the rattles nowadays so darn bulky? They are very heavy for 4 month olds. We went to a fru-fru upscale store and found some cool stuff. At OT at the hospital, they move toys around and make him grab for them. He does such a good job with both hands. He has had remarkable progress with his small left arm the past couple of weeks. It is not because of therapy, either. He just naturally is learning to use what he's been given to use. The therapist said to put a towel under his arm to make him want to use it, but I told her he already does. He first started grabbing his knee and holding it a couple of weeks ago. Then last week he started playing with toys. Now, his current thing is to take his right arm and pull his left hand to his mouth and suck on his fingers. I can't believe how great he is doing. He is such a happy baby. Until his red-headed temper kicks in, anyway!
Here are some pics of Evan. He's showing off his battle scars!

Jumparoo
Amelia can't stop jumping, so even though she is not quite big enough, I got her a jumparoo. I had to rig it so her feet could reach the floor- a cardboard box underneath. Evan does quite well, too, but gets tired a little faster.
Some firsts this week: both started laughing hysterically (Dad's sneeze triggered Amelia) and Amelia scooted about three feet across the floor.

My Yo Gabba Gabba obsession
The show is so weird I can't look away! My sister kept referring to this show and I did not understand until now. If you have not seen the show, enjoy!
Mission Studio Portait: Failed
The picture above says it all about my day trying to get pictures of them.
My day started out at Walmart at their portrait studio. Neither Evan or Amelia would cooperate. I'm actually glad because they let me cancel the session. I'm glad I got to cancel the session because the photographer sucked. And the background was hideous.
Since I can always get them to smile at the same time, I decided to take some pictures at home. Boy, was I a little overconfident. They are starting to teethe a little and always have their hands in their mouth. Here are some examples of what I was able to get:
This pic is called "my overalls are riding up my butt, so I'm just going to munch on them".
This pic is called "hands- in my tummy- party, party". (Another Yo Gabba Gabba reference- I will post a video of that next.)
