4 hours with twins

I got about 4 hours of sleep last night- not all at once. I thought that sharing my morning would be an insight to what it is like to have twins.

Evan woke up at 6am for some more of his favorite food, but Amelia can smell the idea that I am going to feed him and wants some too. She should be going longer without food because she eats more, but she isn't getting that concept. Unfortunately, I can't feed both at the same time (yet) so I put Evan in his vibrating chair, grab Amelia, and get her into the swing so I can pick up Evan again. She is angry. She screams at the top of her lungs for every reason, not just wanting food. She has two volumes: silent and bloodcurdling. With Evan in my arms, I turn on the swing and keep attempting to stick the pacifier in her mouth. It doesn't work for the first 12 or so times. I sit down with Evan and feed him. He is a slow eater and Amelia can't handle it. She starts crying while her swing is swinging away. She is so angry she stiffens her legs in a rythmic pattern until she has pushed herself out of the safety harness and up the back of the swing. For safety reasons, obviously, I have to set Evan down in his Boppy pillow. Before I burp him. I rescue Amelia and strap her back in. Back to Evan. Oops, he puked up all of his milk. Now he has no nutrition again, which he needs so desparately. Mom tries not to cry! I calm him down and sit him in his vibrating chair to relax so he can eat again soon. His heart will not allow him to eat again right away. I grab Amelia, change her and begin feeding her. She only gets down a little and falls asleep. All that for only a little food! I get her into the swing (I use it as a temporary baby holder) to finish Evan. Thank god, he eats another ounce. Something is better than nothing. I burp him, which takes forever. I change him and rock him to calm him down. He finally falls asleep in my arms. Do I get a break? No, somehow an hour has passed and Amelia wants food again. I have to wash bottles first. She doesn't like this and is angry again. OK, I'm ready and I feed her. This time she eats the right amount and when she is done she looks right into my eyes and smiles the biggest smile I've ever seen her smile. Her stomach starts to hurt, so we walk around the house and check email. Somehow an hour has passed and now Evan is ready to eat again. I put Amelia down, who was asleep but knows when you are putting her down. So she is awake and unhappy again. In the swing she goes and she manages to fall asleep in there. I feed Evan again and am happy because he eats well this time. He finishes his bottle and gives me the biggest smile I have ever seen him smile. Life is good, I say. Smiles make it better. I transfer both to their crib and crawl into bed for a nap. After some fussing, we all fall asleep. Then the cat wakes me up crying at the door to get in. You've got to be kidding me! I put the cat in the back room, shut the door, and go to crawl back into bed. But they are both wide awake. It's awake time. I missed my opportunity for a nap today. When is daddy coming home? It's only 10:30?!!
