My Geniuses

It' been two or so years since I wrote what they have been doing. Now they are 3 years and 4 months old. They do a lot, of course, and I don't even know what is normal and if anything they are doing is above normal. I do like to think that they are little Einsteins like every other mother!

Evan:
- Knows most of his planets and can tell me if it's hot or cold and how big it is. The other day I caught him putting a hula hoop around a giant playground ball. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "I'm making Saturn!" I asked if it looked like Neptune, too. He took the hula hoop off and said, "No, now it's Neptune!" I had to look it up and of course he was right. Neptune looks like a giant swirly blue playground ball.

- Subtracts and adds small numbers. I had gone over it with him a couple of times. We were sitting down eating smarties and he says, "3+2 = 5, 2+2 = 4, 4-1 = 3, etc."  He was doing math problems all on his own!

- Can draw many things and learned how to do it himself. He just goes and sits in the corner with the Magna Doodle. The other week he said, "I'm going to go draw a sun." And he did. He also draws houses, people, bugs, trains, and his basic shapes.

-Writes his name, though not in a straight line!

- Knows a limited number of words by sight. His favorites are zoo and Texas. He is pretty good at sounding out words, like cat, dog, hat, etc. The other day I wrote "Cow". He said, "C - O - W". I told him to sound it out into a word. He said, "cowbbleyou." He also had a fight with me about how to spell the word "coin". He says it starts with a K because the word is Koin, not Cee-Koin.

- Can finally ride his tricycle! His legs are finally long enough, that's the only reason!

- is a Lego addict (and other things that are tiny that you can put together).

- Knows exactly how to push Amelia's buttons.

- Walks backwards slowly when we tell him not to go into a certain room.

Amelia:
- has beyond a normal vocabulary for a three year old, I think we already know this.

- can hit a baseball HARD, and not with a T-ball set. I'm talking pitch her a plastic softball and WHACK!!! And consistently, too.

- can run faster than any three year old I've ever seen.

- climbs up places when I'm not looking and gets things like candy. I caught her today sneaking Swedish Fish to her brother when she thought I wasn't looking. The Fish were way back on the counter.

-loves everything hearts and Hello Kitty.

- protects her brother from me. Yesterday I was lecturing him and Amelia blocked him with her body and says, "You leave my brother alone!"

- loves "which one is different" workbooks, where you circle the object that is different.

- coerces her brother into doing things they are not supposed to do!! Like sneaking upstairs...

- runs and gets her tutu and ballet slippers as soon as I turn on music.

- is sarcastic and gives quick comebacks.

- loves to draw Hello Kitty, hearts, and flowers.

Both:
-  Know the difference between left and right. I don't remember teaching them this, who said TV isn't awesome for kids.

- tell me how to drive (the light is green- go!)

- use the iPad faster than I can!

- love to make me cakes on the iPad (Cakedoodle) and pick me flowers (dandelions).

I'm sure there are a million other things...

Tulip Festival

I dragged out John- yet again- to another miserable outing of mine (eye roll), hours away from our home and TV. I really, really wanted to see all of the tulip fields (in Skagit Valley- Mt. Vernon, WA) and take pictures of the kids. I did get some beautiful ones, but mostly of Amelia. Evan would not look at the camera and when he did, Amelia did not. Same with our Disneyland pics. Someday I would like to get a good pic to send people, geesh.

I am sending out a few of these to family, but I couldn't resist sharing them on here right away, I'm sure you see why!
